Dear Parents/Guardians,
Here is some important information I
would like to share with you.
~ Our lunch time is 11:05-11:30. You are invited to eat lunch with our class
anytime you would like. Please remember
to sign in at the office and get a visitor’s tag before coming down to the
cafeteria. If you arrive early, I would
also ask that you please wait at the office for our class to come down.
~ Our specials are on Tuesday
and Friday afternoons. Students will
need to remember to wear tennis shoes on Tuesday and bring their library books
on Wednesday.
~ Homework routine: Each night
your child should bring home a leveled book to read. These books should be on your child’s current
reading level. Due to the fact that your
child will be selecting the book independently, on occasion he or she might
pick a book that is too easy or too difficult.
Please make sure your child reads or attempts to read, the book every
night. This reading should be logged on
your child’s reading log. This log needs
to be filled out every time your child reads and you need to initial the log
and return it to school daily.
~ There is a orange folder that
will be coming home with your child.
This is their homework folder. I
will check the homework folder everyday,
so this needs to be brought to school daily.
There are several parts to the homework folder:
· The front pocket will be for important
information, from me and/or from the school.
It may or may not need to be returned.
This is also the place where you need to put any loose notes, homework,
field trip forms or anything that needs to get to me and/or the school.
· In the back pocket is a Parent/Teacher
communication log. You may use this to
write any notes to me. I will check this
paper when I check the folder and will initial any notes that I see. I also ask that you check this paper daily
for any notes from me and initial them so that I know you read it.
· The homework folder will also contain
your child’s homework calendar. The
calendar will be in the front pocket of the folder. At the top of the homework sheet, you will
notice the directions for homework.
Students will have reading and a spelling assignment every night, Monday
through Thursday. Math homework will not
be every night. If the students have an
assignment, it will be listed on the calendar and the assignment will be in the
front pocket, inside the folder.
· The homework calendar is also where your
child’s behavior will be noted daily.
Please take time to look at this calendar and initial it EVERY NIGHT. If you have any questions about the color,
email or write a note to me.
~ Homework is an essential part
of your child’s learning. *All of the things that we ask for your
child to do at home have been taught and reinforced in the classroom. *
~ Your child’s daily work will
be sent home on Tuesdays. It will come
home in a Tuesday Folder. This folder
will need to be returned the next day.
I thank you ahead of
time for all of your hard work and support!
